After the 21st March Earthquake: CDA Conduct a Buildings Survey

On 21st March at 9:47 pm, a severe earthquake hit Pakistan. The magnitude of the earthquake was 7.7 on the Richter Scale. Moreover, the epicenter of the earthquake was the Hindukush region in Afghanistan. The 2005 earthquake was the most severe earthquake that hit Pakistan. After the 21st March Earthquake: CDA Conduct a Buildings Survey

The CDA announced on Wednesday, the survey is to be conducted on all high-rise buildings in Islamabad. That assesses any damage to the buildings that may have been incurred. 

The announcement of CDA Chairman, Noor Ul Amin Mengal, comes after a 7.7 magnitude earthquake hit Pakistan on Tuesday night. 

According to the PMD, the epicenter of the earthquake occurred in the Hindu Kush region, which put a lot of the buildings in Islamabad in danger. Many buildings experienced some kind of damage or cracks. 

The Chairman of CDA issued a strict order to perform a survey of all structures in Islamabad to detect any possible damage. The responsibility of identifying all the affected buildings in the city. Especially in E-11 which has been assigned to the building control Directorate of CDA. 

Chairman CDA Noor Ul Amin Mengal said that all the damaged buildings should be identified in sector E-11. 

According to the news, the survey of buildings is to be started immediately and the survey report must be submitted within 24 hours. 

DC Irfan Nawaz Memon assured the people the 21st March earthquake did not cause any major damage. Moreover, there were cracks in the multi-story buildings of E-11. 

Nonetheless, district administration teams went to the building with structural engineers to inspect it thoroughly. Irfan Nawa Memon says that the full inspection of Khudadad Heights and other buildings was done.
