Rawalpindi Ring Road Latest News & Updates

Exciting news for the residents of Rawalpindi as the Punjab government has released funds for two major projects, Kutchery Chowk remodeling and Rawalpindi Ring Road.

The Rawalpindi Ring Road project is a 64-kilometer highway with ten overhead bridges and three interchanges that will connect different areas of the city, providing easy access to Bahria Town, Defense Housing Authority, and several routes in the twin cities.

The completion of this project will not only ease traffic congestion but also positively impact the housing business, increasing the value of nearby housing developments. Real estate specialists recommend investing in housing projects such as Blue World City, Kingdom Valley, Nova City, Rudn Enclave, and Capital Smart City that are close to the Ring Road and New Islamabad International Airport, offering various facilities and amenities and guaranteed high returns to potential investors.

The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) is consulting with stakeholders before work begins, and international firms have been invited to choose the optimal route for route validation.

The Kutchery Chowk project still requires land acquisition, and funds for the Leh Expressway and Flood Channel are not deemed available until next year. Nevertheless, this has not dampened the spirits of Rawalpindi residents who are eagerly waiting for the construction work to begin.

The Rawalpindi Ring Road project is not only a game-changer for the city but also an opportunity for investors to get in on the ground floor. With the completion of this project, housing societies near the Ring Road will become prime locations for investment.

Real estate specialists predict that these areas will see a boom in property value and offer high returns to investors. The project’s benefits extend beyond just real estate as it will also ease traffic congestion and provide direct access to different areas of the city. The Ring Road is expected to be a catalyst for growth, development, and prosperity in Rawalpindi in the coming years.

Rawalpindi Ring Road Scandal

In 2021, the Rawalpindi Ring Road project faced a scandal related to land acquisition and alleged route changes favoring private housing schemes and government officials. The National Accountability Bureau launched investigations, and it resulted in the resignation of Special Assistant to the Prime Minister, Zulfi Bukhari. Such challenges highlight the importance of addressing controversies to maintain the project’s integrity.
